Internship for 2025 Season

Join our dynamic team as an Athletic Performance Intern and gain valuable hands-on experience in the world of performance training and data-driven sports science. This exciting opportunity will allow you to contribute to the collection and analysis of GPS, performance testing and training while supporting our Performance and Professional Rugby Departments. You will report directly to the Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach while working closely with other key members of our performance team.

Responsibilities:

Data-driven sports science: Assist in the collection and analysis of GPS and performance testing data: Work closely with our experienced performance team to gather and interpret data from cutting-edge GPS tracking devices and performance testing equipment. Gain practical skills in data collection methodologies and learn how to extract meaningful insights from the data. Generate reports summarising the findings for the Head of Athletic Performance and other relevant stakeholders.

Support Performance and Professional Rugby Departments: Collaborate with our knowledgeable staff and assist them with additional tasks as required. This could involve supporting the Strength & Conditioning Coaches in field training, gym sessions, performance testing or assisting with preparation for gameday. Your work will directly impact athlete performance and contribute to the overall success of the team.

Full season commitment (Preseason: Nov-February 4-5 days per week, In-season: February-July 3-4 per week): This internship offers a unique chance to experience a full season with our organisation, providing you with an in-depth understanding of the demands and challenges faced by professional rugby players and support staff. Immerse yourself in the day-to-day operations of a high-performance environment and make a real impact on athlete performance. Deliver regular progress reports and updates to the Head of Athletic Performance and strength and conditioning team.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in or completed a relevant undergraduate degree course.
  • Able to commit to the full season (November 2024 – July 2025)
  • Enthusiasm for sports science and Athletic performance: A passion for sports science, strength and conditioning performance analysis, and a desire to work in a high-performance environment is essential for this role. Demonstrating your enthusiasm and willingness to learn will set you apart.
