A teenage star, Chresten Davis spent two years in the New Zealand Secondary Schools team as a lock and three years in the New Zealand Colts. He also spent four years in his College First XV. Additionally he represented North Island U16 and was a regular Waikato age group representative.
In 1994 he moved to Palmerston North and made the New Zealand Universities team and played 13 matches for the Manawatu NPC team A founding member of the Hurricanes in 1996, Davis was an All Black tourist to South Africa that year, appearing in two midweek fixtures against Boland and Eastern Province. Playing for the Hurricanes in 1997 against the Blues he suffered a serious knee injury, but he recovered to play his third season in the Hurricanes in 1998.
In 1999 he returned to the Waikato and played for them and the Chiefs between 1999-2004. He played for his third Super rugby franchise the Blues in 2005, before moving to Narbonne in France and then to the UK to the Newcastle Falcons.
