The Hurricanes have thrilled their home crowd with seven scintillating tries on the way to 41-15 win over the Highlanders.
Six of the team's tries went to the backs with second five Ngani Laumape and wing Vince Aso grabbing a brace and fullback Jordie Barrett producing some memorable assists in front of more than 17,000 fans at Westpac Stadium.
The Hurricanes third win from four matches sees the team head into their bye round in good health, third on the New Zealand Conference ladder behind the unbeaten Chiefs and Crusaders.
Head coach Chris Boyd will spend the week off assessing his squad's bumps and bruises, but will also be able to celebrate some polished attack against a Highlanders team that fought hard early, but couldn't keep pace with the home team down the stretch.
Aside from his two tries, Laumape was the standout for the Hurricanes. Playing much of the match on a corked thigh, the midfielder's hard, straight running prevented the Highlanders defence from drifting for a second, while his two tries were highlights of their own.

Laumape's first came when he flew onto a brilliant cross-kick pass from Jordie Barrett, who perfectly executed the right foot dab on the run just before halftime.
Laumape's catch and finish put the Hurricanes in the lead 10-8 heading into the break after Highlanders centre Matt Faddes had put the visitor's up near the end of a fast-paced first first half.
"I think Ngani has had four terrific performances in a row," Boyd said of the former Warriors league player. "For him he's just worked really hard off season. Last year he came to us and could have been in better nick, but also he's been playing the other code for a number of years and taken some time to get back into the game. But mainly I think he worked incredibly hard in the off season on his conditioning."
But Barrett's assist for Laumpae was just the entrée.
After the break the young fullback produced a behind the back pass down the sideline that had the crowd on their feet as centre Matt Proctor raced in under the posts to extend the lead to 17-8.
"I thought he had a compelling performance. Still in his mind he likes the idea of being a 12, but I think he's a tailor made 15... he's a young man and I thought it was a really polished performance," Boyd said of the younger Barrett brothers efforts.
The Highlanders fought back with a try to blindside Elliott Dixon, but the Hurricanes were starting to fizz.
Laumape showed his pace to scoot on the outside of the defence before running over the top of All Black fullback Ben Smith and then wing Julian Savea stormed away after some soft hands from Brad Shields and it was suddenly 27-15.
Aso showed his pace to grab two tries in the final ten minutes to complete the win and bank five valuable competition points.
"I thought Brad had a wonderful game tonight. He's worked very hard in the off season. I know he's determined to get his tackle accuracy up and I think he's running in the middle 90s. I thought he had a terrific game tonight and Callum as well.
"It was an effective combination and Reed did a good job off the bench too. Hopefully we get Blade back soon, so we are well established there."
