The tries kept coming in Perth, but the Hurricanes 34-12 win over the Western Force will be remembered most for the team's courageous defensive effort.
Led by captain TJ Perenara, the Hurricanes withstood massive pressure during a match that was far closer than the final scoreline suggested.
The Hurricanes scored six tries and in the process set a new single season try-scoring record with second five Ngani Laumape grabbing two, and Perenara, prop Loni Uhila, hooker Leni Apisai, and centre Vince Aso all crossing the line once each.
The win improved the Hurricanes record in 2017 to 11 wins from 13 matches and set up a huge New Zealand Conference derby against the Chiefs at Westpac Stadium on Friday night.
Laumape's first try came in the opening minutes with Perenara providing the spark and fullback Jordie Barrett the assist for an early 7-0 lead.

However, the floodgates did not open and it was the Force who applied most of the pressure through the rest of the first half.
Perenara was inspirational as the Hurricanes stubbornly held their line until the break and it was his quick flick that allowed Uhila to barge over before the break for a 12-0 lead.
The second half was more of the same as the home side came out firing and scored first with a try to fullback Dane Haylett-Petty to make it 12-7 as an old fashioned arm wrestle developed.
Replacement hooker Leni Apisai scored next after a cleverly worked front of the lineout move gave his side a 17-7 buffer. Apisai was on for Ricky Riccitelli who left the field injured.
Jordie Barrett was among a multitude of Hurricanes players to make big defensive plays, his try-saving tackle in the in-goal summing up the team's effort.

But nobody shone brighter than Perenara and it was his vision and skill down the blindside that finally broke the Force's challenge.
Perenara dummied, ran, then grubbered for Aso to streak away for his 15th try of the season, then scored himself when he followed up a kick and suddenly it waws 27-7.
Nehe Milner-Skudder made a successful return from his long injury enforced lay off and it was his sparkling footwork that led to Laumape's second try of the night.
The Force had the final say when replacement hooker Richard Hardwick was driven over, but the Hurricanes took the five competition points and a healthy dose of self-belief out of the match.
