The Hurricanes and Chiefs will stand together at Westpac Stadium on Saturday night to honour those involved in the defence forces, our fallen soldiers and the many people involved in emergency services in our country.
The annual Anzac round will be commemorated at Westpac Stadium before the two sides meet in what promises to be another no holds barred New Zealand derby in round 11 of the Investec Super Rugby competition.
A thrilling draw was played out between the two sides when they met in Hamilton in round five and another tight encounter could be in prospect for the re-match as the Hurricanes look to maintain their spot near the top of the overall conference.
There will be plenty of enthralling match-ups with both sides likely to welcome back into their starting sides some of the world’s best players, including Beauden and Jordie Barrett, Ardie Savea and Brodie Retallick.
The match will be the last chance Hurricanes fans get to see a New Zealand derby until the Blues are hosted in June with a number of head-to-head battles sees the game become another All Blacks trial.
It is also an important couple of days for the Hurricanes as they acknowledge the more than 6270 members who have signed on to support the club this season.
Members will be hosted at Friday’s captain’s run at Westpac Stadium while they will get an opportunity with adult members able to get their hands on a Tui Hurricanes bucket hat with 300 given away from 6.30pm the yellow booth.
Fans are being urged to also get in quick for the ticket promotion using the code DERBY to secure a $30 Platinum Uncovered Adult ticket (usually $43.50) that will give them some of the best seats in the house on halfway.
