Hurricanes 2006 side to be a focus for Saturday’s Retro Night

The 2006 Hurricanes side which made it all the way to the infamous “foggy final” will be remembered as part of Saturday’s Retro Night at Westpac Stadium.

The Hurricanes will host the Lions in the Investec Super Rugby match, a repeat of the 2016 final and last year’s semifinal, in what promises to be an action packed night on the field with two of the competition’s most lethal attacking teams going head-to-head.

The action will hopefully help invoke memories from 2006 when players like Isaia Toeava, Ma’a Nonu, Tana Umaga, Piri Weepu, Rodney So’oialo, Chris Masoe and Jerry Collins were helping the Hurricanes almost obtain a maiden Super Rugby title.

250 fans at Westpac Stadium on Saturday will get their very own piece of history with a specially designed Retro t-shirt.

There is plenty more on offer, too.

Fans who wear their favourite Hurricanes jersey will get a chance to win an upgraded version while there will also be the chance to win with Retro Cam.

Former Huricanes captain Norm Hewitt, whose son Alexander will run the match ball out, will add to the night when he appears at halftime to fire out  t-shirts while the best offer of the night will be enjoyed before our fans even enter the stadium.

As a way of remembering when it all started, there will be $19.96 Silver Adult tickets available – less than half their normal price of $43.50 – by simply using the promo code RETRONIGHT at www.ticketdirect.co.nz

The Retro Night, proudly supported by Kia, will also be the club’s chance to show plenty of footage from proud moments of our past.
