Hurricanes confirm Super Rugby Pacific Draw for 2025

Super Rugby fans - get excited! The 2025 Super Rugby Pacific Draw has been announced. With seven home games in the pipeline, including a whopping four home derbies for the Hurricanes, there’s a lot to like about the upcoming season.

With the competition entering its first season under the new 11-team format – the Hurricanes will have home games against the Blues, the Crusaders, the Chiefs, the Highlanders, Moana Pasifika, Fijian Drua, and the Waratahs.

Kicking off in February, the Hurricanes head straight into a derby against the Crusaders in Christchurch. Hurricanes fans get their first home game in round two, where the team will take on Fijian Drua.

Round three will see a home derby for the side, as the Blues pay a visit to Sky Stadium. Rounds four and five sees the team on the road, with games against Moana Pasifika and the Highlanders respectively.

The back end of the season sees five home 1games, with the Hurricanes getting a second chance at the Crusaders in round nine, before taking on the Chiefs and the Highlanders in rounds 12 and 14 respectively.

“We’re excited to rip into it next year and grow from where we finished in the 2024 season,” said Hurricanes centurion, Brad Shields.

“Seven opportunities to play for our fans at home is huge, and we really want to do them proud with exciting performances. There are some big local derbies in there, and a home rematch against the Crusaders is going to make for an exciting match in round nine.”

Hurricanes Head Coach Clark Laidlaw said he was excited to get stuck in and build off what the team achieved last season.

“The changes to the draw format this year are going to make for a great season, particularly for our home fans! To have four local derbies at home is huge, we also look forward to welcoming the Fijian Drua after such a great game in Suva last year, as well as the new look Waratahs, who have not only recruited well on the playing front but also with new experienced coaches.

To finish our home games with Moana is exciting, and the opportunity to welcome them back to Wellington.”

“I’m proud of what the boys achieved last year, but it feels like we’re only just getting started. We need to be prepared to start again, work extremely hard on what we think is important for us to get better in pre-season, then attack each game as it comes. We can’t wait for the season ahead.”

The Hurricanes return to preseason training in late November.
