Hurricanes Poua Confirm Draw for 2025

With a doubleheader at SKY Stadium and two local community games, the 2025 Sky Super Rugby Aupiki draw offers three exciting opportunities for home fans to come out and support the Hurricanes Poua.

The revamped side will kick off the season on Saturday 1 March at SKY Stadium in an epic doubleheader, where both the Hurricanes Poua and the Hurricanes men’s team face off against last year’s champions, the Blues.

In round two, the Poua head south to face Matatū at Apollo Projects Stadium on Sunday 9 March. The two teams met twice last season, with each side winning on their home turf. The Poua will be eager to secure a victory over the home side, giving the players a significant boost early in the season.

The team are on the road again for round three, meeting last year’s finalists, Chiefs Manawa at FMG Stadium in Waikato with a 4.30pm kick-off, Saturday 15 March.

The following weekend, the team faces their first rematch of the season, going head-to-head with Matatū once again—this time at home in a local community game. In an effort to strengthen ties with the wider community, Poua will host the match at their home base, the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS) in Upper Hutt, Saturday 22 March.

For their final home game of the season, the Poua will face Chiefs Manawa in a second community match held at NZCIS on Saturday, 29 March.

Poua close out the regular season as they began, facing off against the Blues. The two sides meet in a Saturday afternoon showdown at Eden Park. The top two teams from pool play will then progress to the Super Rugby Aupiki final the following weekend.

Hurricanes Poua Head Coach Fusi Feaunati is looking forward to the season ahead, and is delighted at the prospect of connecting with local fans at their community games:

“We’re really excited to lock in our schedule for the 2025 season. Three games at home is going to create a lot of opportunities to welcome stakeholders at all levels to come and support the team. The Poua are looking forward to showcasing an exciting brand of rugby. We’ve got a dynamic group including some of the best players in the world right now.”

“To be able to take the game out to the community and bring our fans along with us is a really special thing. This is going to be a year of growth for the Poua, and we can’t wait to get stuck in.”
