A strong 23-man Hurricanes Under 20s side has been named to play at Napier’s McLean Park on Saturday.
With kick-off at 2:05pm, the clash against the Blues Under-20s will act as a curtain raiser for when the Hurricanes play the Sunwolves.
Fourteen of those selected in the U20s team have also been chosen to attend the New Zealand U20s training camp in March.
The pedigree continues with contracted Hurricanes, Danny Toala coming in as second five and Liam Mitchell at lock. Both of whom have been picked as over-age wildcards.
Aidan Morgan wears the number 10 jersey and Drew Wild will start at fullback.
Josh Southall will captain the game from the forward pack, and he’ll be joined by Taine Plumtree and Tyrone Thompson who have spent the last 10 weeks training with the Hurricanes.
Hurricanes recruitment and development manager, Darren Larsen, says the team has a good spread of talent.
“We have some of New Zealand’s finest young rugby players in this team. It’ll be fantastic sight for footy fans looking for something to do on Saturday.”
