The Investec Super Rugby Trophy is going on a tour of the Hurricanes region.
Starting with a whirlwind day in Wellington city tomorrow to mark the naming of the 2017 Hurricanes squad, the Investec Super Rugby Trophy will be travelling through Horowhenua-Kapiti, Manawatu, Wairarapa-Bush, Whanganui, Hawke's Bay, Poverty Bay and East Coast.
Hurricanes chief executive Avan Lee said it was important to share the team's success with the club's fans in the regions.
"Winning the Super Rugby title was a long time coming and we appreciate that a lot of people throughout the eight provincial unions that make up the Hurricanes region played their part in our success along with all our other fans across the country.
"That support means a massive amount to our players and to everyone at the Hurricanes and hopefully by taking the trophy out to the regions we can give a little bit back to the wider Canes family."
The 28kg Investec Super Rugby silverware will start its tour at the Wellington Railway Station from 7:30am Wednesday morning (November 2) and will be popping up around the city during a morning that will feature the official release of the 2017 Hurricanes squad at 11am.
The trophy, which will be accompanied by some Hurricanes players, will make special stops to thank Wellington's train and bus drivers who have diligently ferried fans to and from the team's matches over the past 20 years.
It will settle at the Green Man on Victoria Street from midday with Wellington fans encouraged to get along and get a selfie with a prize that will be returned to SANZAAR before the start of the 2017 Investec Super Rugby season.
The regional tour will start on Monday, November 7 with several stops along the Kapiti Coast including numerous school visits before heading to Whanganui and Palmerston North, Masterton, Napier, and Hastings.
Gisborne and Ruatoria are the final stops on the tour with the trophy set for a special appearance at the Poverty Bay Rugby Union's annual prize giving on November 17.
