Wing Julian Savea will be among the headline acts when the Hurricanes kick-off their 2018 Investec Super Rugby preseason at the Brisbane Global Rugby Tens next February.
The second edition of the Global Rugby Tens will be held on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10 at Suncorp Stadium and promises to be bigger and better than the inaugural event.
Following a hugely popular debut in 2017, the tournament switches to a day-night format, with matches to begin in the afternoon and run into the evenings.
The Hurricanes reached the semifinals in 2017 with a team that included All Blacks Nehe Milner-Skudder, Jordie Barrett, and Ngani Laumape as well as try scoring star Vince Aso.
Savea, a 54-test All Black, missed the last tournament, but is looking forward to being part of the Hurricanes challenge in 2018.
"I know the boys who played this year absolutely loved it," Savea said after attending the official launch in Brisbane. "It's a great way to start the season - awesome fun but also challenging. And I'm sure the day-night element will just add to what is already a great atmosphere at one of the best stadiums in the world."
Hurricanes chief executive Avan Lee said:
"The 2017 Brisbane Global Rugby Tens was a wonderful showcase of fast-paced, exciting rugby and a tremendous way to start the season," he said.
"The 2018 event promises to be even bigger and better. I'd encourage our fans to get across to Brisbane to experience what is a truly superb weekend of top class rugby."
The 2018 tournament is also set to feature a Hurricanes legend in Conrad Smith, who is set to play for French powerhouse club Pau, a team that also includes former All Blacks Colin Slade and Tom Taylor, while the Fijian national side are also set to join the action.
"Pau have already confirmed that Conrad Smith will be in their line-up so that is great news for Hurricanes fans," tournament chief executive Rachael Carroll said.
"We've got an incredible amount of top class rugby talent lining up to take part - and with the move to a day-night format - Brisbane will be in full party mode. The 2018 Brisbane Global Rugby Tens will be an unmissable event."
