Sangster and Moorby Depart for Overseas Opportunities

Following the conclusion of the 2024 DHL Super Rugby Pacific season, the Hurricanes have said farewell to lock Justin Sangster and outside back Josh Moorby who head overseas to take up contracts in Japan and France respectively.

Sangster, who was picked up by the Hurricanes after a stand-out debut season for the Steamers in 2021, departs the club after 26 appearances and heads to Japan to join Shizuoka Blue Revs in Japan Rugby League One.

Best remembered for his tireless work in the Hurricanes engine room, the former NZ judo representative has inked a two-year deal, which he will take up following the Bunnings Warehouse NPC, where he lines up for his home province, Bay of Plenty.

While Moorby, who joined the Hurricanes after three seasons with the Southland Stags almost immediately burst onto Super Rugby scene and was selected for the Māori All Blacks, for their two-match series against Ireland in 2022.

With 21 tries in his 38 matches for the Hurricanes, the speedster has been ever-present since his debut in early 2022.

Both players will link up with their respective Bunnings Warehouse NPC sides for the upcoming season, before departing for their new clubs.
