The Hurricanes have announced a new partnership with premium sparkling beverage company Wai Mānuka, which will see the low alcohol drink served to hospitality guests at Sky Stadium at home games during the 2022 DHL Super Rugby Pacific season.
A conversation between three childhood friends one New Year’s Eve saw the conception of Wai Mānuka, which has since seen the product found in premium restaurants, hotels and cafés throughout the country, including Wellington’s Karaka Café, Kawa Kawa Eatery, Sofitel, and Jano Bistro.
Lance Paora, Wayne Atkins and Joe Harawira, who go under the company name ‘3 Māori Boys’ created Wai Mānuka by infusing manuka honey, sparkling water and natural lemon juice to create a refreshing and revitalising beverage to enjoy on any occasion.
Their success to date earned them a finalist spot in the emerging gold (products) section of the 2021 Wellington Gold Awards.
Hurricanes Commercial General Manager Chris Yeo is looking forward to hospitality guests sampling the new drink.
“Wai Mānuka have very similar values to the Hurricanes being Connection, Culture and Community. We love the story behind Wai Mānuka, watching the brand grow and supporting a great Kiwi product on the global stage. Being able to be a small part of their journey is exciting and I’m looking forward to introducing our sponsors and hospitality guests to Wai Mānuka”.
Wai Mānuka Managing Director Joe Harawira is equally excited about the partnership with the Hurricanes.
“Community is at the heart of everything we do and that’s what makes our partnership with the Hurricanes so exciting! We wanted to create an authentic Kiwi brand that represents the things people value like wellness, connection, culture and community. Together with the Hurricanes we have an amazing opportunity to not only build a global band but to uplift and inspire the next generation of rugby players and entrepreneurs, right here, in our own backyard.”
