The Hurricanes are the 2016 Investec Super Rugby New Zealand Conference champions after clinching a home quarterfinal with a 35-10 win over the Crusaders in Christchurch.
On the final night of the regular season, the Hurricanes produced a dominant five tries to one win at AMI Stadium, the team's 11th victory in 15 regular season matches.
Tries to Jason Woodward, TJ Perenara, Willis Halaholo, Callum Gibbins and Beauden Barrett capped off night when the visitors threw caution to the wind and attacked at every opportunity.
The win means the Hurricanes finished top of the New Zealand Conference after the Highlanders beat the Chiefs 25-15 in Dunedin later in the night.
The Hurricanes have earned a home quarterfinal next weekend, and they will be the No 1 overall seed throughout the playoffs, unless the second-string Lions can defeat the Jaguares in Buenos Aires later this morning.
In Christchurch the Hurricanes made a statement as much about unity as their playing ability.
Disrupted by the late withdrawal of midfielder Ngani Laumape with a groin injury, the backline didn't skip a beat.
Laumape's replacement Woodward stepped into the No 13 jersey for the first time this season and played with authority, scoring the first try of the match.
His midfield partner Willis Halaholo was outstanding, while inside him Barrett, Perenara and fullback James Marshall moved the ball to space at every opportunity.
In the pack, captain Dane Coles and openside Ardie Savea were everywhere and locks Michael Fatialofa and Vaea Fifita along with loose forwards Victor Vito and Brad Shields physical and direct.
But perhaps the biggest influence on the match was the Hurricanes reserves, led by prop Loni Uhila's barnstorming ball carrying.
With a slim 14-10 lead at the break, the Hurricanes dominated the second half with Uhila, Callum Gibbins, Mark Abbott and Ben May all making a significant impact.
Woodward got the first try of the night after running onto a Barrett pass and slicing through the defence to score under the posts.
Ryan Crotty replied for the Crusaders when the Hurricanes coughed up possession trying to run from their 22 as a tense first half unfolded.
It was the Crusaders who blinked first, Perenara charging down opposite Mitch Drummond's clearing kick and getting a kind bounce to give his side the lead heading into halftime.
Halaholo was a constant threat with the ball in hand and his try 10 minutes into the second half was a sign of things to come as he blew past Crusaders openside Matt Todd.
Gibbins was next to score after Marshall had punched through the defence into space and found the loose forward on hand to take the pass and surge over under the posts.
And Barrett capped things off when he grabbed an intercept try with the final play of the match.
Scorers:
Hurricanes 35 (Jason Woodward, TJ Perenara, Willis Halaholo, Callum Gibbins, Beauden Barrett tries, Barrett 5 cons) Crusaders 10 (Ryan Crotty try, Richie Mounga con, pen). HT: 14-10
