The Hurricanes have today confirmed their 2024 DHL Super Rugby Pacific draw, with six home matches, headlined by blockbuster derbies against the Blues, Chiefs and Highlanders.
With the competition entering its second season in the 12-team format – the Hurricanes will have home games against the Blues, Rebels, Chiefs, NSW Waratahs, Moana Pasifika and the Highlanders.
Kicking off in February, the Hurricanes head away to the Western Force on Friday 23 February, followed by the Queensland Reds in Melbourne in the third year of Super Round.
The home season kicks off in round three, when the Blues come to Sky Stadium, with that match on Saturday evening 9 March, kicking off at 7:05pm and marking Kids’ Round.
Round nine, sees the team head back to Fiji for the second year in a row to take on the Fijian Drua on Friday 19 April, followed by a trip to Canberra to face the Brumbies at GIO Stadium marking ANZAC round.
The back end of the season sees the team play three of the last five games at home, with the Waratahs, Moana Pasifika and Highlanders coming to Wellington in rounds 11, 13 and 15 respectively. The Highlanders game will be played at a family-friendly afternoon kick off.
Hurricanes CEO Avan Lee said “2024 is a big year for the Hurricanes and the competition will be as challenging as ever. In terms of games to watch out for, it’s hard to look past the 3 home derbies against the Blues, Chiefs and Highlanders. However, the away derbies and the fixtures in Canberra and Fiji will be vital too.”
In-coming Head Coach, Clark Laidlaw was excited about the draw and said he was looking forward to his first season at the helm.
"It's an exciting draw, starting with two matches on the road. This will set us up nicely and give us great opportunity to connect as a team. We will then will look forward to welcoming the Blues to Our House on March 9 and to be able to play in front of our home fans. We're really look forward to that."
The Hurricanes return to preseason training in late November.
